David Farren has exhibited at Beckstones Art Gallery for a number of years and his distinctive style has won for him many collectors. He was born in Wiltshire in 1972 and attended a course in Art and Design at the University of the West of England in 1998, turning professional in 2000. David Farren has fast gained a reputation as a modern impressionist, finding his inspiration in both cityscape and landscape. His aim is to capture the energy and movement of the urban landscape and to provide a snapshot of everyday life. David Farren enjoys painting the vibrant ambience and individuality of cities like New York, San Francisco, Paris and Venice and occasionally contrasts them to the beauty of the rural surroundings of his favoured Lake District. He is fascinated by the changing light within his urban scenes and uses colour to portray its effects on steel, glass and rain-washed streets. David Farren paints in oil and acrylic, enjoying the immediacy and versatility of both mediums, appropriate for his direct, expressive style of painting. He has had several exhibitions around the country and David Farren works can be found in private collections in the UK and abroad.
